How do I delete a web address from the drop-down list of the address bar?

How do I delete a web address from the drop-down list of the address bar?

被采纳的解决方案

I tried the steps recommended in the three-step procedure noted here -- the delete or shift+delete combo -- and it did not work. Nor did the same two steps which were recommended in the web page link below those three steps.

What DID work, however, after making many attempts to be certain I was following your theoretical golden recommendations was this: right click the mouse which gave me an option to "forget this site."

In reality it was a few steps less convoluted than all the written advice I've seen on these help pages.

Hi

This usually depends on what kind of item you want to remove. Is there a special icon attached to the website favicon like a pin or a star ? Items with a pin are websites that are pinned on the Firefox Home page (about:newtab, about:home) and need to be removed on that page.

Items with a star are a bookmark and can only be removed permanently by removing this bookmark. Items with no icon are history items or search items if they have the search icon instead of the favicon.

You can use these steps to remove saved items from an autocomplete drop-down list.

  1. click the (empty) input field on the webpage to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press "Delete" or "Shift+Delete" to delete the highlighted entry

Note that hovering with the mouse doesn't work.
