Thunderbird refuses to launch minimized
Hey there, I am trying to make Thunderbird launch in the background but the program refuses to do so.
Tried changing properties of the shortcuts to "Run:Minimized", didn't work.
Tried all solutions here -> [https://superuser.com/questions/13469.../how-to-actually-start-program-minimized-in-windows-10|Superuser], didn't work.
I can't understand why it doesn't work with TB, works with few other things I tried. I wish TB had this option in the first place :/

Extensions doesn't work as well. I mean, it does minimize but after launch.
So the program starts, you see the program for half a second, then it minimizes it.
I don't want to see window at all.
I performed a TEST. Using Windows 10 and Thunderbird version 102.2.2
Exit Thunderbird
On desktop I have a Thunderbird shortcut and on Task Bar I have shortcut
- Right click on desktop shortcut and select 'Properties'
- On 'Shortcut' tab set : Run = minimised
- click on 'Apply'
- click on 'OK'
Click on desktop shortcut. Thunderbird shortcut in Task Bar now displays underlined. Hover over Taskbar shortcut icon and thumbnail pops up showing Inbox.
This means I have a Desktop shortcut open TB as minimised, but Task Bar shortcut opens TB in window.
So this works for me on a desktop shortcut.
Note:
Menu icon >Settings > General
Is this selected: 'When Thunderbird is minimised move it to the tray' ?
If yes, then the Shortcut icon on TaskBar does not show underlined or highlighted, but an icon appears on far right of TaskBar in the Tray area. So, you may need to check that setting is not selected.
TEST:
If you have set up Thunderbird in the Startup apps so when you boot up computer and logon to desktop, the Thunderbird program auto starts, but you want it to auto start as minimised.
- On Keyboard - press the 'Win' key + 'R' to open the 'Run' command.
- Type: shell:startup
- click on OK
It opens a window >>Windows >>Start Menu >>Programs >> Start-up Thunderbird will be listed and it is a shortcut.
- Right click on Thunderbird shortcut and select 'Properties'
- On 'Shortcut' tab set : Run = minimised
- click on 'Apply'
- click on 'OK'
I just tested this and it works for me.
