Hello,

I am trying to understand if there is a way to customize the tab rearranging behaviour.

In particular, the thing I find very unpractical is that, after a tab is closed, the others do rearrange, but after the mouse goes out of the tab bar. This is particularly annoying when I have to close multiple tabs, since thanks to this behaviour, the tabs which I close after the first one are always the unintended ones.

The solution would be to let the tab rearrangement happen instantly after the closure of the tab. In my opinion even without animations, I do not really care about that.

If you have any suggestions let me know.

Thanks in advance!

If you want to close multiple tabs then start with the first tab and not with the last tab. If you start with the first tab then closing this tab will place the close button of the next tab under the mouse pointer and you can continue closing tabs. If you move the mouse off the Tab bar then the Tab bar will rearrange and tabs may change widths. There is no way to disable the way this works AFAIK.

Thanks Cor-el. Actually I know I can do that, but in my workflow I rarely close tabs like that, so for me it is still a problem. I leave the post here so that if someone has better ideas he/she can reply

You should also be able to close tabs via the "List all tabs" (Tab Manager) button, but currently only a middle-click in its drop-down list or using the right-click context menu seems to work (Firefox 115 will have a close X).
