I have always had the default settings when it came to the color of unvisited links (blue) and visisted links (purple) but now every single link appears purple regardless of what color I change either of them to. I have cleared my history, turned off all extensions, and reinstalled firefox but I am still having the issue.

Does it still happen in a new profile? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile.

Once I signed out on my regular firefox the problem went away. The links were back to blue and went purple after I visited something. I tried the developer edition and things were like they should be: everything being blue. But then I logged into my google account and it went back to purple

Google is using a visited color (#681da8) that is hardly distinguishable from the unvisited color (#1a0dab), so you may not notice the visit state.
