Firefox 3.6.7 and 3.6.8 do not connect to the internet. I've been on Mozilla support, and no luck. I have tried everything that I can, it's left to the dev team to fix the problem for 3.6.9 else I just won't be able to use it ever again.

4.0b1 works too... but it has this issue of switching to the windows 7 basic theme -.- but I heard this is a known issue and 4.0b2 is coming out soon.

I've posted 2 threads on here before but I've had no response. So here I go again...

Any help? Urgent -.-

Hello Jean-Luc.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode (don't forget to select Disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and this one for plugins.

If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

If the problem is not disappears when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have disabled all add-ons and ran in safe-mode. It still does not work.

I've done a disk clean-up, removed all temporary internet files etc, and this didn't fix it.

The problem is 3.6.7 and 3.6.8, it seems as if somethings changed during the update to the newer release.

Well, you can reinstall Firefox easily and without loosing any data. Just download the latest version off of getfirefox.com and install it over your current install.

If that doesn't work, can you please try it in a new (temporary) Firefox profile and see if the issue is still present? See this article to know how to create a new Firefox profile. Please report back the results.

Thank you for your reply. Firefox 3.6.8 is the latest, with the exception of 4.0b1, as I stated in my post, 3.6.8 does not work. I am running that one now.

I created a new profile, and this did also not work.

If a new profile doesn't work, it's an indicator that it's something outside Firefox that is causing the issue. I'd bet on some sort of firewall/antivirus/security suite, but anything can cause this, specially malware. To scan for malware, install, update and run these programs in this order. They are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in their "free mode", but the features you'll miss are not really needed to find and remove the problem you have. Remember that not all programs detect the same malware!

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - malwarebytes.org/mbam.php SuperAntispyware - superantispyware.com AdAware - lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware Spybot Search & Destroy - safer-networking.org/en/index.html Windows Defender - microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx Dr. Web Cureit - freedrweb.com/cureit

If these don't find it or can't clear it, please tell me and I'll provide you with further assistance.

Thanks! Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware caught a few trojans, and I removed them.

SuperAntispyware caught 1 trojan, and 4 Browser hi-Jackers and after removing these and restarting my pc. Firefox is back alive!

Beware of the Browser Hi-Jackers!

I bookmarked this page incase it happens again - Strange problem, also alert auscompgeek of the solution here, he was getting a bit of a stress head.
