All of these problems come from the fact that Vista and Windows 7 are 64 bit operating systems. Internet Explorer is also 64 bit but Firefox is unfortunately not 64 bit compatible and therefore can only use 32 bit plug-ins.

When upgrading Flash, it will look at your system and select the 64 bit version. This says it contains a 32 bit version as well, but this does not seem to work on version 11x64_mssa_aih. It will work fine on all programs except firefox.
To make sure you have a working version on Firefox you will need to search the Flash support site for 11x32_mssa_aih which is the 32 bit upgrade package.
Until Flash fixes their version 11 package, or Firefox supports 64 bit plug-ins, you will need to run both a 32 bit and a 64 bit Flash player.

There are 2 versions of the Flash player, one that works in IE and one for other browsers.

Using Firefox, you can get the version for Firefox from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

Alternatively you can use the manual installer to install the version of Flash used by Firefox, for details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

I'm running Vista 64 bit and the current version of Flash (11. whatever) doesn't apparently work with Vista 64 bit - why, I'm not sure but this is what happens when one company dominates the market like Adobe. Anyway, I have the 10. whatever version installed now and Flash is working in Chrome and in IE. This problem occurred because I updated Firefox to version 8, after which Flash was still working with the old version installed. THEN I got the annoyingly repetitive reminder from Adobe to update Flash to 11 and finally succumbed. After updating Flash, I could no longer get sound from any online videos. So I uninstalled, found a 10. version of Flash and figured that would solve the problem since Firefox 8 WAS working before using the 10. version. Not to be. Now I can't get it to work at all. And to tell you the truth I like the old interface of Firefox 7 much better anyway. SO... how do I get 7 back and hopefully resolve this problem so that I don't have to make IE my new browser - which I'm not too crazy to do since I've been using Firefox from day 1...

Also having a similar experience today. No problems at all before this, but now I get told that I need to install the latest Flash player, which I do, and it seems to work and fully install without any issues. Then next time I go to watch the video, I get told to install it... and on and on and on. I guess it's bye bye Firefox, because I am now just praying I can still watch BBCi on trusty IE.

Hey guys... I dunno if this will help anyone, but this is what happened to me:

I wanted to print a custom valentines card today, but when I tried to use the flash template, it wouldn't allow me to do so. The error message told me to download the latest version of Adobe Flash.

So I did this after using adobes flash removal tool... Restarted the computer, and the computer acted as though flash wasn't installed at all.

Even zynga games had quit working suddenly. Error messages would be displayed on the pages.

What finally worked was going to youtube.com, strangely enough.

It was here that my firefox browser's add-on finder finally prompted me to install flash...

Problem solved after firefox intalled directly.

Hope it works for others.

and downloaded the FULL version of 11.2.202.233 and installed flashplayer11_2r202_233_win_64bit.msi and everything is working fine now it is a large file.

I had this problem too. I browsed for solutions. Found the Firefox 64-bit. It's called Nightly, http://nightly.mozilla.org/ link text . It's in testing phase but it works nicely. Remember to close all browser windows before installation. Cheers!
