I am using Windows 7 but this also happened in my Admin a/c on Vista but was Ok on ordinary user account on same computer. Now I cannot log in to my forum either in Admin or other a/c using Firefox 3.6.12

Such behavior can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked by Firefox or an extension or blocked by security software (firewall).

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

  • "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Profile Folder in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

If that didn't help then make sure that your firewall isn't blocking cookies.

Thanks for speedy reply. Worked like a dream! I cleared cache and then cleared out cookies for my forum and was able to log in OK. Phew!!! Looks like I may be able to keep Firefox as my default browser!
