Why does Software update say I am up to date, yet un the web site I find that later versions are available?
Software Update runs and then says "No updates found". It used to work OK but for some time I have had to go the Mozilla site to see if there is a newer version of Firefox 3.6 for Mac - today there were 2 updates but Software update had not mentioned them.. I have set "Automatically search for updates" in preferences

Firefox 3.6.15 is the latest release version. Firefox 4 is due out very soon but it will not work on your computer, it requires OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.
For info there is a third-party version of Firefox 4 that works on PPC Macs and OS X 10.4, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
Yes, I know about the different versions and that Firefox 4 will not work on my Mac. My query is about why the Check for Updates function in Help is not detecting the latest updates - it runs and then tells me "No Updates Found" and yet there are updates available when I visit the Firefox site. It used to work properly.
You have 3.6.15, that is the latest version, that is why it says there are no updates.
Yes, I know I have the latest version because I downloaded it from the Mozilla site. I had not been able to get updates for 3.6.13, 14 or 15 via the Check for Updates button, which kept telling me that no updates were available. I downloaded the 3.6.13 a while back after I found it by going to the site. I later found 14 and 15 together by going to the site - at no stage did the Check for Updates inform me that any of these were available. The progress bar ran and then it said that No updates were found - it does not work properly.
