详细了解

FF4 was fine until this morning when it began freezing a few seconds after opening the window. However, when I leave that window open, any additional FF4 windows I open run fine (like before).

Edit: I fixed my particular program by removing the HitGrab Toolbar and the Conduit Engine from my Add-ons. I believe it was the Conduit Engine causing the trouble (maybe when combined with something else), and I believe the HitGrab Toolbar caused the Conduit Engine to exist in the first place. Disabling the Conduit Engine would probably have been sufficient, but I decided to remove them both instead as I wasn't using them.

Problem Solved. I'd delete this if I could, but I don't see a "delete question" option.

Hi,

We would like to further investigate this issue, and if it is caused by any of Conduit Products., to release a fix for it.

If any user has encountered this issue and has a community toolbar powered by Conduit or Conduit Engine installed - please [contact me] and provide us more information:

The steps you took previous to this issue (did it happen upon upgrade to FireFox 4, did it happen when upgrading the community toolbar) Your browser version and operating system

Any additional information would be helpful.

It didn't happen when upgrading Firefox. I think it happened when updating my add-ons a few days later. When I opened Firefox that day, a new "Conduit Engine" toolbar with a [+] button at the end had been added beneath the navigation toolbar.

Whether or not I right clicked and unchecked that toolbar (to hide it), my first Firefox window would freeze up about 5-10 seconds after it was opened, so my next attempted solution was to upgrade from FF4 RC (which I had at the time) to normal FF4, but that did not solve the problem.

It was at this point that I noticed that additional windows of Firefox I open did not freeze up, so all I had to do was leave the frozen window open and browse the Internet like normal with my second window.

Still, I wanted the problem fixed, so I posted a question here, and nobody replied. A few days later, I google searched Conduit Engine and realized I didn't really need it anymore (no offense), so I tried removing it, and that fixed the problem.

I then removed most of my system, browser, and add-on details that were automatically entered from this question because I noticed there was no way to delete the question, and I didn't see any need to keep them visible to the whole Internet.

My operating system is Windows Vista Home Basic, and I encountered the issue with Firefox 4RC and 4.0. I didn't encounter the issue with 3.5.something, and I skipped Firefox 3.6 altogether.

Same problem encountered with ConduitEngine autoinstalling. After ~10 freezes, it removed itself and the problem has not occurred since.
