Uninstalled 4.0 Beta and selected to delete history and add-ons, etc?
I still had V3.6.17 installed when I selected that option in V4.0's uninstaller and it deleted all my addons, history, bookmarks, preferences, etc for V3.6.17. I wasn't aware that it would affect both versions. Any way to recover these things?

Only with a file recovery program such as Recuva or similar program.
