Firefox download gets error msg "Firefox can't find the server at start.bramjnet.com".

When I try to download the Firefox Web Browser, process stops with the following message:

         Firefox can't find the server at start.bramjnet.com.
       
 Check the address for typing errors such as
   ww.example.com instead of
   www.example.com
 If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
   connection.
 If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
   that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I followed these directions and switched to the DEFAULT theme. Now what? When I got out and tried starting Firefox, I got the same error message. There was no option on the page where I switched to the defalt theme to save anything. Technicians seem to live in an alternate universewhere screens and options look a little different and certainly work differently.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

You say check the address. Ok, what address? You techies always assume the questioner has been following you around all your life at your elbow and knows everything you are talking about.

Incidentally, in Safe mode the problem does not occur.

Did you try to disable all extensions and re-enable them one by one to see which extension make the problem reappear as stated in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article?
