After updating to the new version of Mozilla Firefox...my search engine changed from Google to Ask. The only way I can use google is to type in the very small google box on the right side of my tool bar. If I submit anything into the search box on the Mozilla Firefox home page...the results are all from Ask.com I have even disabled Ask as my search engine. I tried this trhough both my control panel...which I think pertains to IE and also through the "tools" section of my "Firefox" page. Can anyone tell me how to get ASK off my computer?

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and do a search for ask.com via the Filter at the top of the about:config page.
You can reset all ask.com related prefs that appear bold (user set) via the right-click context menu to their default values.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

  • Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
  • Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
  • Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.
