Is it possible to personalize the size or the Path to your cache, history, temporary files and others? If it is, how can I do it? I explain why. I am willing to create a RamDisk partition where I would place that kind of files with support to a bigger size, that way increasing my speed in Internet, and avoiding permanent writes in the SSD drive. I am in i7 920 CPU, with system and programs working in a SSD drive and have 24 GB of RAM memory.

You can install the portable Firefox 9.0.1 version.
The portable version is optimized for such removable drives and has the disk cache disabled.

You can disable the disk cache or set the path to a specific location if you want to use the regular version.

Hi cor-el

In my Desktop I have the 9.0.1 version of Firefox.

I don’t know if it is or not the portable one, but I presume not.

I couldn’t follow your first link, because page is not found. The second link takes me to somewhere where I have already been and that gives no solution to my question.

I don’t want to disable cache in Firefox. By the contrary, I want it enabled and I’m trying to make it more efficient, making it bigger and placed in a very fast driver (A RamDisk driver, which is a driver made from RAM memory).

What I want is to configure by myself the place where the cache and other temporary files are placed in my computer, and their size.

So, I repeat my first question. Is this possible?

Although I am Portuguese you don´t need to redirect me to Portuguese pages, cause I’m perfectly familiar with English.

i don't think so

You do this by:

1. Make a new profile via Run > enter "firefox.exe -p" (see here)

2. Then you can change the location of the profile. This will move cache, history, etc. (I don't know about the size)

Sorry Tomatoweb, but acording to Firefox page you signed to me, the profile only takes our personal settings:

Profiles

Did you know that all the settings you make in Firefox, like your home page, what toolbars you use, saved passwords and bookmarks are all stored in a special profile folder? It's true. Your profile folder is kept in a separate place from the Firefox program so that if something ever goes wrong with Firefox your information will still be there. It also means you can uninstall Firefox without losing your settings and you don't have to reinstall Firefox to clear your information or troubleshoot a problem

So, Profile has nothing to do with cache or temporary global files. At least that's what Firefox says.

My question is still on.

sanket779292, I think that unfortunatelly you'r right.

I wish that this question gets to someone responsible for Firefox program.

I think that it should be important that users could decide where they want their files and programs. It’s gone the time where normally we had only one drive in computer. Now we can have several drives.

We can have an SSD drive, where intense writes must be avoided, essentially those of temporary files.

We can create RamDrives using RAM memory, whose amount per computer has increased a lot and whose price has gone too low.

I know that I am talking of special files, system files, but I regret those who will touch them without knowing what they are doing. I think that reason can´t prevent the others to decide about de layout and performance of their systems.

Mozilla Firefox, you must think about it!

I Just had a idea! Wht not move the FF installed directory to the SSD or wherever you wnat it to be? That MAY help, I don't know.

I've corrected the wrong link in my above post for the cache folder, so you can check that again.

The cache folder is the only folder that you can customize.
All other files need to be in the profile folder and your only option to move them elsewhere is you create a profile folder on another drive.
That can't be a RAM drive because you lose all settings unless you would backup and restore them with every Firefox start or all least when you close down the computer.
