Saved bookmarks don't save in the place I save them to. I have to search for them then manually move them. I have tried everything, alt starting Firefox and resetting bookmarks and preferences.

Where do they get saved?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
