Older JAVA extentions appear in extention tab ONLY without a "remove' button; not on computer control panel or Plug-in tab, Can I delete them directly from the extention folder in D:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions?

The older versions are 6.0.03 6.0.20 6.0.21 6.0.22 6.0.23 6.0.27 6.0.28 6.0.29 All of which say disabled for non-compatibility with 9.01 firefox but no "remove" button!

Java Console
Unless you do Java programming/development or debug Java applets on web pages, you do not need Java Console. Java update will install a new Java Console with each update. Removing the Java Console extensions has no effect on the functioning of Java for web browsing. You can see, but not remove, the Java Console extensions in Add-ons > Extensions. Java Console extensions can be safely removed manually by following the instructions in this article:

Thanks Safebrowser! I was on the right track then.

I do not program/develop/debug any java. Just browse sites that want it installed to view something. "My-guy" installed a lot of this back in 2007 when I was much less savvy then I am now. So you are saying, if I have java installed in the computer I do not need both "Java Deployment tool-kit 6.0.30.12 and/or Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U30 6.0.30.12 in Firefox plug-ins? Nor do I need its match in the Extensions tab: Java Console 6.0.30 (Currently disabled with Firefox 9.01), or the most likely very old: Java Quick starter 1.0 (also disabled)? That is, if I am not a developer....?

Let's take this one item at a time.

My initial reply addressed only the Java Console extensions, as the old versions are most usually the ones likely to not be "cleaned up" by Java after a Java update; you can remove the old versions as per the instructions in the article in my initial reply. You may, if you wish, remove all Java Console extensions per the instructions, including the current version; however Java update will install the current version with every new update but in the past has not always removed the old version, hence the multiple Java Console versions

You must leave the Plugin Java(TM) Platform SE (6 U30 6.0.30.12) ENABLED for Java to work on websites that use Java to display content.

Java Deployment Toolkit and Java Quick Starter may be DISABLED.
