I bought a new Lenovo Windows 7 machine and installed the latest version of Firefox on it. Unfortunately my homepage setting will not stay modified! I can set it and use it, but the setting goes away each time Firefox is closed or the system is rebooted. :-( Any suggestions? This feature works fine on my two XP machines.
Thanks.

Hi NanSchaller,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article How to set the home page.
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If that doesn't work you should look at the article How to fix preferences that won't save.
Hopefully this helps!

Hi, Matt -
Thank you for your answer. The Preferences are not saved article did the trick. My problem is caused by the Windows Firewall in 64-bit Windows 7! Who knew? If I turn off the firewall, the preference changes are maintained. If I turn it back on again, they go away.
It really helped to have the name to look for!
Thanks again!
Nan
I hope you have an alternative firewall or a router. It is not safe to browse without some kind of firewall.
Our modem has a firewall, but I also found another workaround for the issue which works with the Windows Firewall on and that is instead of asking Firefox to come up in the homepage, I can ask it to reload what I had opened the last time.
Thanks for your concern and for taking the time to write.
Nan
