I have set up sync on my laptop. First, how do I confirm that I have done that correctly? When I go to my android device using the Firefox app, sync says "not connected". When I press Connect, the next screen says "To Activate, select "Pair a Device" on your other device. (that is different than what the picture shows on other help screens). When I go to my PC and select pair a device and enter in the codes, the system "tries to connect; Connect to Sync" but it's always unsuccessful "waiting for other device". Then it times out and the options are to Try Again, Manual Setup, or Cancel. I attempted Manual Setup, but I could not find my Recovery Key anywhere (e.g., Options/Sync).

One other note. I have a new laptop. When I setup Firefox originally, it was on a different laptop that I no longer have. Is that part of my problem...?

Hi!!

Sorry for your issues.

First, from your comment, I'm not sure if your new laptop is connected to Sync. It seems that it may not be and that could be part of the issue. If this is the case and you don't have the Recovery Key, you should reset the account following the steps described here: I've lost my Firefox Sync account information - What to do

If this is not the case or after doing it, please follow the steps described in this article: How do I set up Sync on my computer? starting in the second step.

Let me know if this works any better of what you were doing and if it doesn't work, please, let me know specifically where it's failing so we can troubleshoot the case together.

Best, Ibai

That might be the main problem.

Are you 100% sure you don't have your Recovery Key ??

Also see this article -> How do I choose what information to sync on Firefox?

Check and tell if its working.

Ibai,

I followed your advice and reset my account using the "I've lost my Firefox Sync account information" link you provided. Link

My Options/Sync screen now reflects the fact that I have an account (i.e., there is a Manage Account button).

The pairing with my android (Droid X) device seems to have worked.

I really appreciate the quick response and accurate feedback...
