Redirect when using google clicking on search results but goes to unwanted websites. My anti Virus, spy ware and malware programs are not fixing it. But they find new Trojans (different names, most recent in Java folder) when I use Firefox and google. How can I remove this manually?

It happens every time I use Firefox and google.

I tried Internet explorer with google and it just does nothing when I put google in, as in it does not load the site.

Would this go away if I un installed Firefox?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try some of the following programs to scan for malware:

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Can you try TDSSKiller? It's possible you have a virus that is deeper and would require professional assistance to remove

Did TDSSKILLER and it found something. Just testing it out now. It certainly makes sense that is the problem. Should know soon. Thanks for the help I will up date soon.

Still it all seems fine except there is a plug in - Meta Stream 3 that looks like it is trying to restart even though it is "disabled" by Firefox. How do I remove it all together?

more options

You can set the plugin.expose_full_path pref to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.

It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.

See "Manually uninstalling a plugin":

I did that but did not find the plug in. The page said "Enabled plug in" Is there a way to get to the disable plug ins and remove them?

You can open the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder to check the file path of the plugin.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
