Why is the new tabs page not loading?
My firefox is supposedly up to date but the new tabs page isn't loading nor is the icon in the corner coming up so I can turn it on.

If it does work in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

hello msporredoss, please enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up), then search for the preference named browser.newtab.url and right-click & reset it to its default value (about:newtab). this should bring up the new-tab-page on new tabs.
See also this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):
It was already set that way when I checked it and I am still not getting the new tabs page.
Thanks!
then please try running firefox in safemode once and see if this is working as intended - maybe one of your extensions is interfering...

What is the current value of the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page?
Try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the about:addons page.
It says default string about:newtab
Does it help if you start Firefox in Safe mode like suggested above by madperson?
Do you see any HTML (XML) code if you right-click the new tab page and choose View Page Source?

I figured out what it was. Unfortunately it's an add on I use quite a bit. Thanks so much for your help!
