After downloading, the file is lost and never displayed. File is not displayed on the desktop or any where else. Moreover, in the "boot" (download window) I can not open a file or folder with the file. Right-click on the file in the Downloads window and selecting Open Containing Folder does not work. Can not understand what is going on folks. Please help)

If "Open" and "Open Containing Folder" in the right-click context menu in the Download Manager window are grayed then that means that the file is no longer in the original download location and they may have been removed by Anti-virus or cleanup software.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

I completely disabled the antivirus, but the problem is not solved.

Are you using a fixed download folder or does Firefox ask where to save each file?

You can try a different download folder.

  • Tools > Options > General : Downloads : "Always ask me where to save every file"

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
