I currently have Java Platform SE 7 U9 v 10.9.2.5 and Java Deployment Toolkit v 7.0.70.10 / 10.7.2.10 installed and working fine on my Win XP SP3 machine, running FF 17.0.1.

When I run an Add-Ons check, it says both are outdated and potentially vulnerable. When I go to the Java website, it says I have the latest version, and when I download and attempt to install, it says I already have that software installed.

How do I get FF to stop giving me false warnings about outdated Java. Ever since FF v13 this has been an issue with various add-ons, false warnings, and extraneous dll files that need deletion. Suggestions? Thanks.

Problem solved. See this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/944191

You have to find the link to the Java 7_10 Platform, download and install that, then FF disables Java (says its outdated), and sends you back to re-install Java 7_09 Deployment Toolkit. Following THAT, and a couple of re-boots, everything seems OK. Just another medium-sized pain-in-the-butt runaround to do what should be a simple update procedure.
