My Hotmail login details only save in IE, but do not retain when using Firefox as broswer. There seems to be something in FAQ's, but can't resolve

When using IE, my Hotmail details, always save for next login (using the "keep me logged in" tick box).

Using Firefox to open Hotmail, my details are never retained and (using the "keep me logged in" tick box also), I have to put full details in each time, rather annoying....does Microsoft do this on purpose to retain IE users?

As mentioned above, there does seem to be something in the FAQ's, but even following this, i can't seem to get this to stop happening, so whilst wishing to use Firefox more often, for Hotmail access this is a bit of a pain!!!

I'm not sure whether such Hotmail features work with Firefox.

Websites remembering you and automatically log you on is stored in a cookie.

  • Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode.

Do not use Clear Recent History to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the suggestions on this, but all the setting suggestions are set as they should be and STILL the login details for Hotmail, get cleared on exit, when using the Firefox browser!!

So to the person who suggested this feature may not work in Firefox, I think you are indeed correct and it doesn't, as whatever I try, I cannot get the Hotmail login details to save.

Regards,
