That usually means the prior history was deleted. Have you noticed any other data loss, settings changes, etc., that could indicate you are not using your established personal settings (AKA your Firefox profile)?

Firefox doesn't keep any backup of history. I'm not familiar with whether the Linux file system stashes mirror/shadow/recovery copies anywhere. If you don't have a recent backup, I don't have any good suggestions for you.

I have the same problem. (Version 22.0 for Windows) History is only showing me the last 15 lines. If I click on Show All History to see even what I did a few minutes ago, I'm taken to a Library that only wants to show me All Bookmarks - but shows absolutely no bookmarks even though I have many available through normal Bookmarks drop down and toolbar.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
