Why do v.22 and v.23 beta load at 79,970 MB?
V.22 was not only huge at 79,970 MB but it had major conflict with the shockwave plugin. I went to Chrome and went insane with white screen freezes and unresponsive pages. I want to come back to Firefox but Firefox is just stupid in size. What the hell is going on????

Ah ok, so you are meaning Install size. You need to clarify that.
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
Thank you.

Why is no one at Firefox dealing with this problem? I wrote about the size of v.22 about a half a dozen times on one forum or another, to no avail. HELLO? HELLO? Using v.22 at 79,970 MB causes my computer to freeze, my fan to roar. Compare to the size of Chrome: 241 MB. Is there anyone home???
And now we have v.23 in beta, with the same problem. But the OVERARCHING problem seems to be that no one is listening! This is why I removed Firefox and went to Chrome. No one is listening!
This isn't instant messaging, it may take a few hours to get an answer. Most of us are users just like you, very few of the people providing support here work for Mozilla.
Hi edmeister, thanks for your response. I assumed that Mozilla people would be running support.mozilla.org -- I wonder if they even check in. It strikes me they could do that. They could check in to support.mozilla.org and notice that their program is loading at 79,970 MB and do something about it.
You posted a question at 3:52am on the west coast, you can't expect an immediate response. That's not how forums work. This forum is mainly staffed by volunteers and community members who have lives to live as well.
For your specific issue, what do you mean that Firefox is loading at 79,970mb? Is that Ram? Or what are you talking about, please clarify
If you mean Firefox is using 79,970 MB of RAM, that is over 78GB of RAM, which I have a hard time believing. Care to clarify?
I'm not sure why you're re-informing me that this is a volunteer led forum. edmeister capably did that. As for expecting instant answers, I already mentioned that I tried a good half dozen times to get help when I first had v.22 loaded. And now you're insinuating that I'm not to be believed? Wow.
If I look at all questions asked by you, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/search?a=1&asked_by=talkback101&sortby=1&w=2, there is only this one. Where did you ask for help before?
and you honestly are telling me you have 78GB of RAM on your computer? With windows XP that has a memory limit of 4GB?
Again, I ask, please elaborate, give me the copy paste of about:memory, etc.
When I noticed v.22 was seizing up, I saw at Add/Drop programs that it weighed in at 79,970 MB. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and nothing changed. I sought help, and got none. After I experienced all the problems with Chrome, I tried v.22 once again. It loaded at 79,970. I uninstalled it. I installed v.23 beta. It loaded at 79,970. That is what's happened.

Well that's very interesting. When you use Add/Remove Programs to remove Firefox, there's still a full file left at C:ProgramFiles/Mozilla etc. The icon can be removed, Add/Remove will tell you it's removed, but it's not removed until you go into C:ProgramFiles etc and remove it yourself.
Yes, thank you, Tylerdowner, the clean install loaded at 46.54 MB. I guess my bookmarks got carried over from Chrome, for they were automatically installed. It looks like I'm free to dispose of Chrome, which will give me great pleasure. What a piece of work that is.
Thank you again for your help.
