How do I stop Adobe Flash from opening an instance of Firefox (and thus overwriting ALL of my recently closed tabs) when it installs?
I tend to keep a lot of tabs open, and I rely on Firefox to remember and open my recently closed tabs every time I restart my computer. However, when Adobe Flash updates, it launches an instance of Firefox to advertise itself, thus overwriting all of my closed tabs and any chance I have of retrieving these websites. How can I make it stop doing this, or how can I make Firefox disallow its ability to do this?

When Firefox is your default browser, any external program that wants to display a web page will open it in Firefox. So, here are some workarounds:
(1) Make IE your default browser. But this is not convenient most of the time.
(2) When Firefox opens unexpectedly, use the History menu to restore your previous session. Then you can safely close the unwanted page.
(3) Use an add-on such as Session Manager that stores more than one previous session, just in case you forget to do #2 and need to go back to the earlier session.
