How do I get rid of qone8? It takes over and opens multiple tabs.
This is definitely malware that is not removed with conventional anti-virus software. What's the best way of getting rid of this?.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of. Also, I am a bit surprised that on the latest Windows 8 too, you have run with the malware problem. It might help reaching out to Microsoft support to ask them what they think about this too.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Search Reset Tool. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.

Note that your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there. you can check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
Also... check the shortcut you use to start Firefox to see whether that URL was inserted there.
Right-click the shortcut > Properties > Shortcut tab.
On the line that says target, the last thing should be
firefox.exe"
If you find anything following that, such as the address of the unwanted site, go ahead and remove it.
I think the entire target line on 64-bit Windows would normally be as follows, assuming it's not a custom install:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
