Hello,

Can you please confirm the issue you are facing. Are you not able to open the files in the download area by double clicking those files? Is that the issue you are facing? While you can uninstall the latest version and install an older version, we generally recommend you use the latest version so that you have the latest features and security fixes in the browser. We can definitely try to help you with getting this issue resolved with the latest version too.

Thank you

Hi. Yes I can double click to open but that is not the issue. I download a lot of reports and documents from web programs for work and personal use and the convenience being able to drag from download area and drop an item in to an outlook to email or work or excel document is no longer possible. When dropping in outlook the item use to automatically show up as and attachment, now all you get is the location of where the item was saved. Same with excel, word, pdf, etc. if you dragged to the program it would automatically open the item with out having to double click. Can you tell me how to get the drag functionality back that I use to have in previous version of Firefox?

Hello, To confirm, the issue you are facing is this

  1. You download an office file - say a PDF/Excel/Word
  2. The file shows up in the download manager
  3. You try to drag and drop this file from the download managerinto (say)Outlook
  4. In the previous versions of Firefox, this was possible and the document would get attached to the email
  5. In the latest version though, the document is not getting attached in Outlook

Is the above an accurate description of the issue you are facing?

Thank you

Is the above an accurate description of the issue you are facing? - Yes

3. You try to drag and drop this file from the download manager into (say)Outlook. In the previous versions of Firefox, this was possible and the document would get attached to the email -Yes and if I had work, excel, or PDF program open, I could also drag the file from download manager and drop in to program and it would open that file too.

Thanks for you help.

Hello,

I tested this by following these steps. Please confirm if this is what you are doing

  1. Firefox 25.1
  2. Outlook 2010
  3. Downloaded a PDF from a website
  4. Drag and drop the PDF from the download manager into a new email
  5. In the mail, instead of the PDF being attached in the email, the file path is inserted into the email

Is that the right issue you are facing too. And in the previous versions, the PDF file itself would have been attached in the email.

is that correct?

Hi there,

Yes that is correct. File would attach to the email but now all that happens is the file path is dropped into the body of the email.

Thank you for your help!
