As long as you have Service Pack 2 installed for WinXP, open Help > About Firefox then click Check for Updates. Firefox 3.6.6 should check for an update and then install Firefox 12.0 (an intermediary update step). Then use About Firefox again to initiate the update to Firefox 26.0.
