Give me mybookmarks back!

more options

I have a new HD on my laptop. Everything was synced from my firefox there to two android devices. So there should be no problem getting my bookmarks back right? No. Because there is no way of exporting bookmarks from firefox in android. And I can't re-suynch because even though I have deleted my sync account, the sync account still seems to be active in the android devices and there is no way of removing it, so I can't set up a new sync. The option doesn't appear in the home screen. How do I get my bookmarks back from an android device to Mac. And why do you make everything so difficult??!?

How did you delete your Sync account?

Please pause and don't delete, change or reset anything else. Hopefully an Android expert can assist you with one of the following:

  • Sync'ing the data on your devices with a new Sync account you set up on your Mac Firefox
  • Manually extracting bookmarks from your profile data on your Android device

These are messy processes and as I first suggested, I would avoid making any further changes at this point.

Oh, and, this is a public forum, so feel free to clean up your language a bit.

Likewise, you may feel free to design your product in such a way that it doesn't make people want to swear and chuck their computer out the window because it won't enable the most basic, facile of things that is supposed to be the entire point of having a sync account in the first place.

Sync was designed with privacy in mind and doesn't have the typical password recovery features of your normal online accounts. The need to save a long Recovery Key in order to access the account from a different desktop installation of Firefox (if the first one is deleted) comes as a surprise to a lot of users. I don't use Sync myself, so I don't know if that is a hidden detail in the registration process, but based on the number of posts here, it probably isn't obvious enough.
