Hi, my issue: firefox (have an updated 24 esr) through PROXIES keeps spinning some (most) pages, for a long time which sometimes look like forever.

i've read a lot of googlin'results, and also kb on this site but I feel nothing applies to my case.

Hints: - Visually, the page seems to be full yloaded. - this happens ONLY when I RELOAD them, NEVER if I load them first or through links - this happens even forcing reload with shift-reload or similar commands - It happens even with pages I use every day, not new ones. - behaves the same even in safe mode, after cleaning web cache - other browsers (chromium 31, ie 11) behave normally, same sites & proxies.

the only way to stop this behaviour is disable all proxies. we use a LAN squid proxy, but happens also using a localhost proxy like Privoxy, or both chained.

Just can't understand how to debug what does not work.

I know of addons which can stop spinning but... is there anything I can do to make ff behave better for all my lan clients?

Thanks

Can you reproduce this in a new and clean (unmodified) profile?

Are there any plugins used on open pages when this happens?

well, as for plugins, if you mean java, flash, etc: no.

...I tried a brand new profile, and it seems better. Damn. i thought safe mode was , well, "safe", also for this kind of issue.

what can I check to debug what in my profile is making ff behave like that? I can think about about:config custom settings... (and how can I backup/restore those custom values? ) [update] found this are prefs.js in profiles. Going to diff them

Is there any other thing to check?

Thanks Marco

Are there any network.http prefs modified apart from the prefs to select the proxy?

You can open the about:config page via the location bar to inspect prefs.

Prefs that have been modified are saved in the prefs.js file.

Extensions also can make a difference.

not even one, all defaults...

I'll try all sort of things... I have to sort this out. But my profile's prefs.js is over 1k lines... compared to the new profile's under 100... it will take a while to spot the nasty buggy setting or extension... :-)

I will report results here.
