none of the 'articles' addresses the basic question: how do I view my bookmarks? Q&A are useless!

I used to have a menu bar at the top of Firefox, where I could pull down my Bookmarks menu. That has disappeared. Asking 'where are my bookmarks?' leads to useless answers like 'how to bookmark a page.' One suggestion was to click on the menu symbol (you have to guess that it's the 3 bars top right) and click on View menu bars, or something like that; problem is, there is no such option in that menu. Who is responsible for screwing up what used to be a very user-friendly browser? I may have to go back to Explorer, not a happy prospect. Firefox, are you paying attention?

Hi BarryB, in the menu window, toward the bottom, there is a Customize button. When the customize dialog opens, along the bottom, there is "Show/Hide Toolbars".

The 4 bullets are alternate ways to do the same thing, so if two don't work for you, try the others.

  1. Hit the Alt key to see the Menu bar.
  2. Right-click at the top of the browser and click on Menu Bar
  3. {Ctrl + B} to open the Bookmarks Sidebar
  4. {Ctrl + Shft + B} to open the Library window
  5. Hit the button to the right of and attached to the Star

To display the menu bar persistently you can either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Customize > "Show/Hide Toolbars" > Menu Bar
  • tap the Alt key > View menu > Toolbars > Menu Bar
  • right-click a blank area of the tab bar > Menu Bar
  • right-click the new tab "+" button on the tab bar > Menu Bar

The "Show/Hide Toolbars" button is around the bottom center of the Customize page if you want to use that one.

Thanks for your effort, but when I hit the Alt key, nothing happens. I don't know what page I'm supposed to be on to start this sequence. It is mystifying to me - I am not computer savvy, just an average user. Firefox has completely destroyed my previous easy-going access to the internet. I am deeply discouraged and disappointed. Their 'suggestions' are useless and frustrating. I am unable to use Firefox any more and I am trying to work with Chrome instead. Why oh why did they mess this up?

I got stuck on line 1 of your reply. In the Menu window, there is no such thing as 'show/hide toolbars'.

Thanks to jscher2000 - your latest reply did the trick! (I wish Firefox was as helpful!). For others with this problem: open the Menu (3 bars top right), then click on Customize; then a bar opens in the BOTTOM LEFT of the screen with options to hide/show toolbars (Menu and Bookmarks). Curiously, logically clicking on the hide/show Bookmarks toolbar didn't help, but clicking on the Menu toolbar restored the Bookmarks line at the top of the Firefox page. Suggestion to Firefox: make this protocol highly visible to people having difficulties with the new look! There is no reference to this in your Q&A under Bookmarks!
