I am using MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013 with OS X 10.9.3.

Have used Firefox for years, but when I received Firefox 29, I started having issues with my Mac having full crashes. Through trial and error, I isolated that it only occurs after I have moved Firefox into my external monitor. After Firefox is in the external monitor, moving any other application to or from the external monitor results in a crash maybe 1 out of 5 attempts. I have tried connecting to a different monitor and I have tried both the HDMI port and the Thuderbolt to DVI connector on the Mac with the same crash still occuring.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
