L.S. When dragging the favicon.ico to the desktop to create a shortcut the 16x16 pic is shown in a 64x64 white square; I have to correct the shortcut manually by selecting the properties of the link and browsing to the same favicon.ico on my desktop to get the full 64x64 icon; Chrome shows the firefox icon on a white square (lol), but only IE works correct (sic).

The icon was made with http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/ and merges the 16x16, 32x32 and 48x48 pics. Tried the same with the favicon.ico from x-icon.com with the same result. I use < link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="/favicon.ico" /> in the < head>

My customers are not capable to manually correct the shortcut, any suggestions?

HI rperk44, Do you have it set as your default browser? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/create-desktop-shortcut-website Please post the steps to reproduce with an example html page to the [webcompat.com] where the web compatibility team can further investigate this.

Yes Firefox is my default browser. Next to that I have IE, Chrome, Safari and Opera installed to test websites I develop. The example page is http://easyweek.nl Attached the thumbnails: the one on the left is made via properties, the one on the right is what I get when dragging to the desktop. Kind regards, Charles
