Thunderbird will not send or receive email in Windows 8.1 unless I re-install it. The next time I open Thunderbird it is again broken. So, I have to repeat the un-install / re-install process. Currently I am using Version 31.0, but this was happening the the previous version as well.
Here are some of the messages in the error console:
Could not read chrome manifest 'file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Thunderbird/chrome.manifest'.

Thunderbird will not send or receive email

Hello, Do you use some extensions for Thunderbird? If you have a problem with Thunderbird, will you same problem immediately after reinstallation? Have you tried to run Thunderbird as a computer administrator? (Click on Thunderbird icon right button on mouse and select Run as.. Administrator).
Thanks for the suggestions., This software was configured and running properly, and the passwords have not been changed. It does not matter if I run as an administrator. There are no plug-ins or extensions running. As I mentioned, if I uninstall and then reinstall it works until I reboot the computer. Then when I open Thunderbird I can send out an email, but when it tries to download new messages, but it just keeps trying without success. At this point I can not kill the process in the task manager. I have to reboot, uninstall and reinstall. Oye.
That really sounds like anti virus scanning to me. Try rebooting your machine into safe mode with networking and see if it works correctly then.
