I am unable to Disable Flash Player hardware acceleration if it keep crashing as I am unable to access. I have cleared, reinstalled, etc.... and tried everything on these forums. I have also submitted crash reports to Firefox.

Crashes or other problems with certain multimedia content in Firefox (such as Youtube videos and Flash animations or games) can often be resolved by performing the steps in these Knowledge Base articles:

On Windows Vista and above, you can disable Flash protected mode by following the instructions on these pages:

(See this Adobe blog post for technical details about Flash protected mode.)

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. Please provide the Crash Report ID's so that we can view those reports.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste that into the "Post a Reply" box. (Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the ID's. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like)

Hi userSharonD, the ID should switch to having a bp- if you click each report number to submit the associated data.

Also, I reverted back to Adobe Flashplayer 10.3.183.90 as that is the only one I can get to work without it crashing. Any version beyond that gives me issues.

Hi userSharonD, if Flash newer than Flash 11.2 causes problems, there's a good chance that is due to the protected mode feature added in Flash 11.3. It has security benefits, but is not compatible with all systems for some reason.

You can disable the feature by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different ways to do that:

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.
