I was logged out of YouTube comments

more options

I can log in to my YouTube account perfectly fine, but all the sudden I was "logged out" from commenting. Clicking "reply" would do nothing, and Clicking the comment box that appears above all the comments brings up a window titled: "Google+: real life sharing, rethought for the web - Mozilla Firefox." This window would be up for only a brief moment before it automatically closed, proving nothing. Sometimes, Firefox blocked it entirely, claiming it had stopped a pop-up. When I forced Firefox to keep it open (by means of reopen closed windows), I found that the page was completely blank.

I remembered that I had an add-on devoted to blocking "third party tracking" and I thought it might have decided the comment section was tracking me. Reconfiguring and eventually removing it proved nothing.

I found the two go-to solutions for being logged out: sign out, delete cookies, sign back in and separate and reintegrate your account from Google+. They didn't work either.

I have also cleared the cache several times by now. It is not working.

This inexplicable barrier between me and voicing whatever thoughts I may have about the video is annoying me deeply, and like to know what is, how I can make it go away, and how I can prevent meeting it again in the future.

I have posted this on the YouTube forum, but they only got me to the conclusion that this was a Firefox problem.

P.S. If it means anything, I've been stuck the crappy Windows 8.1 P.P.S. Don't even think about telling me to clear the cache again. That's not helping.

被選擇的解決方法

Don't call Windows 8.1 "crappy", and no, I highly doubt it matters in this case. I remember having something similar with being "logged out" of commenting. I just logged out of YouTube myself, cleared the cache and history and such, restarted, and logged back in.

It sounds like it would help to turn off the popup blocker temporarily to make sure that isn't a factor. You can do that in the Options dialog:

  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content

It looks like you have Firefox set to accept both the site's cookies and third party cookies (third party cookies are needed when you use a Google login to access Youtube and/or vice versa). You could double-check here:

  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
    • "Firefox will: Remember history" or
    • "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history" with "Third party cookies: Always"

If you think there might be some kind of saved block on Google or YouTube cookies (or related sites like ytimg.com and googleusercontent.com) you can click the Exceptions button on that same tab and review your site-specific cookie permissions.

Firefox is set to "Allow first party cookies" from Google, and just plain "Allow" from YouTube. Disabling the pop-up blocker makes the blank Google+ stay longer, but it proves nothing.

Windows 8.1 took your comment as a challenge and proceeded to destroy Firefox to the point where I was forced to reset it.

By definition, the problem is solved, and is now confined into an "Old Firefox" folder, but remember: Bad solutions may be solutions, but they're also bad.

I use Windows 8.1, and I've never had any problems with Firefox. These things just happen on any computer for any random reason.

Hi SuddenNonsense, if you need assistance recovering any data/settings from the Old Firefox Data folder, please let us know. Otherwise, it sounds like you may have found a shortcut around a lot of additional troubleshooting and experimentation.
