All my messages disappeared from the inbox.
I realize there is a similar problem posted, but the proposed solutions don't work here and the specific details here are different.
All the messages disappeared from the inbox. The sent box is fine but messages deleted from the inbox don't appear in the trash folder.
A search of the Inbox for messages of size >0 allows me to see the messages and to reply to them. If I move a message to another folder the moved message is invisible there but search finds it.
Deleted messages are in the trash folder but cannot be seen. A search of the trash folder finds them.
Messages in search boxes allow use (reply, delete) but attempting to delete a selected list of messages in the search box does nothing.

I got a solution. I cannot take credit, but I tell you I was almost embarrassed at the simplicity of the problem and solution. The AT&T ConnectTech technician recognized that when I could left click and select display message in a tab, that it was likely nothing was clicked that in the "select columns to display" on the upper far right of TB's page. He clicked a selection of items and automagically my messages appeared.

Additional information: I have rules that move messages from the Inbox to various folders. MOST but not ALL these messages are visible.
System and version (sorry)
64 bit W7, TB 31.1.1
More information. The inbox will show a horizontal bar if clicked there. if I right click the context menu appears, and if I click on "display message in a new tab" the message is opened in a new tab, and I can open the tab and use the message. I'll continue to post discoveries in hope that someone will look for the problem.
