I DO NOT want ANY internet entity saving my webpage passwords. Mozilla/FireFox insists on asking me if I want to save my password to a webpage. How do I get it to STOP asking me if I want to save a password?

hello, you can disable that in the firefox menu ≡ > options > security panel (though firefox will store any saved passwords locally on your computer of course and not on the internet, unless you opt in to a service like sync).

Yes! Thank you! Simple and easy to follow instructions. AND it worked. Cannot ask for more than that! Thanks again!

First, I assume "menu ≡ > options > security" means to go to "menu ≡ Tools > options > security".

Second, I WANT it to save the password, I just want it to STOP constantly asking me if I want to update it. It asks me every time I log on to my brokerage account, but I still have to retype it every time anyway becasue it doesn't save it even though I keep telling it to. Could be that the brokers security setting prevent their log in screen from being automatically populated by Firefox with the log in info, I'm not sure.

Hi svisek

You can find Options/Preferences in the Tools menu if you have the Menu bar visible or in the drop-down list of the "3-bar" Firefox menu button on the right end of the Navigation Toolbar.

  • Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar

It is possible that the brokerage uses JavaScript to modify the name and password fields. Some sites also use a second hidden input field for the name and password and copy data to that hidden field to submit that data. If the field where you originally entered your credentials gets changed then this will trigger Firefox to ask to save a possibly changed name/password. I don't know of a way to stop Firefox from asking to save the name in such a case.
