Why do I have two profiles stored in my profile folder?
I recently started having some issues with my laptop - I can't run a restore operation and I can't run a complete scan with my "SuperAntiSpyware" program. The spyware program always hangs up on a Firefox file. When I started troubleshooting the Firefox program I discovered two Profiles in the profile folder, and I have no idea why they are there. How can I determine which one I can safely delete?? I suspect there is some kind of conflict between the two files which may be contributing to my other problems.

Hello,
Please see: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
Right click on your Firefox (desktop or start menu) shortcut and select Properties. At the end of the Target Line in the Shortcut tab, add a space followed by -P, so that when you click on the shortcut the Firefox profile manager pops up. You can then load up Firefox with each profile and figure out which one you want to keep.
If only one profile shows up in your Firefox profile manager, then that means only one of those Profile folders are being used. You can figure out which one by starting Firefox with the profile in the dialog box, and then going to the about:support page in Firefox:
- Help (or > ) > Troubleshooting Firefox
And then clicking the "Show Folder" button. The folder that is opened is the one that is used and the other one can probably safely be deleted.
Where do I put the -p???
on the "target line" ?-- c:\program files (x86)\Moailla firefox\firefox.exe
If so to i put it before the .exe?
on the "start in line"? -- c:\program files (X86)\Mozilla Firefox
add at the ed of that string?
Please be very clear! Thanks.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
You can check the dates of the files in the profile that is not used.
