I screwed up. I wanted to back up my email, but instead of copying, I somehow MOVED my profile folder to a USB flash drive. When I next launched Thunderbird, everything was gone -- mail, local folders, address books, everything.

I realized what I must have done, and copied my profile folder back to the AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles folder. This did not help at all.

I've Googled articles about backing up and restoring profiles, mail, etc., but have yet to find a solution that works.

Can anyone tell me how to restore the missing items? I still have the profile folder intact on the USB flash drive.

Thanks to anyone who responds.

Don't copy the entire folder from the thumb drive, just copy over the contents of the folder on the thumb drive to your current profile underneath AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/<your profile>

Basically follow these instructions, except creating a new profile. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird#Create_a_new_profile_and_copy_the_old_one_over_it

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not work. No local mail folders appear.
