When I download a PDF now, it saves to a file ok, but when I try to open it, a pop-up says that it isn't a PDF or a reconized file in Adobe. The file extension is .pdf. Thanks

I doubt if that is a Firefox issue.

What does Windows say about those files when you right-click the file and select Properties? Does that happen with all PDF files? Or just some from a particular source?

Those files may have been created by a different PDF program and may not be fully compatible with Adobe Reader. Or those PDF files may be corrupt in some manner.

Same problem, DL'ing PDF files from a secure source results in zero-byte files that are (obviously) corrupt. See pix. I really need a copy of my tax return to print...

Got it working! Between a help page here and the response I got from Vanguard, not sure which made it work. Here's Vanguard's fix:

Dear Mr. xxxxxxx,

Thank you for your email. We apologize for any difficulty you've experienced with opening your tax forms.

If you have Adobe Reader 10.0 or higher installed but are experiencing difficulties, please follow these steps to repair the installation:

1. Open the Adobe Reader program. 2. Click "Help? in the upper left hand corner. 3. Click "Repair Adobe Reader Installation.? 4. When prompted for repair, click "Yes.?

Also, we should make sure that your Adobe Reader software is properly configured on your computer. Please follow these steps to check your software's settings:

Windows >> 1. Launch Adobe Reader. 2. Click "Edit," then choose "Preferences." 3. Select "Internet" from the menu on the left. 4. Make sure that "Display PDF in Browser" is enabled. 5. Select "JavaScript" from the left menu. 6. Make sure that "Enable Acrobat JavaScript" is checked. 7. Click "OK" to save the settings. 8. Close Adobe Reader.
