Firefox won't download - long press, get menu, 'save image', and nothing happens. FF 34.0.1 Android 5.0.2
As the question says - Firefox for Android ver. 34.0.1, Android ver. 5.0.2 (Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet). This problem just showed up today - I found an image on the web (not Facebook) that I wanted to save, so I did the usual long press, the menu popped up, and I tapped 'save image'. It was highlighted, and the menu disappeared, but nothing happened, no little oval bar saying 'download started', and there's nothing in the Photos or Download app on the tablet. I haven't changed any settings on Firefox or Android (other than changing my PIN), so this is a bit frustrating. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had this problem too and eventually found out the problem was that my download folder was missing from my Device Storage. So I just manually created a /download/ folder and I was able to save images again.

Nightwolf, it should be in the notification bar for downloads. Does this also happen in version 35.0.1 of Firefox or beta 36 ?
As I said, I have version 34.0.1 - and I've got it set to update automatically. And no, nothing shows up in the notification bar, either.
I made sure it was updated to 35.0.1 (why it didn't update automatically like it was supposed to, I don't know), but nothing has changed - I still can't download graphics of any kind.
Now this is getting truly bizarre - I uninstalled Firefox, ran Clean Master, powered down and restarted, then reinstalled Firefox... and it still won't download graphics of any kind.
- Does the image display on the list of downloads on about:downloads
- Are there any settings on the device that blocks downloads over wifi or by certain applications?
- Is there room on the device to download the image?
- An example webpage will help further investigate.
If the notifications on Firefox have been turned off in the Android operating system, turn them back on by:
Go to Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications

Taking those in order...
No, there is no image displayed on downloads. There is no setting - that I can find - that blocks downloads (pictures download just fine with Chrome, but I'd rather not use that). I've barely got anything on my tablet - only 8% of storage is used. Notifications are on for Firefox, not only there but also in the apps section.
Firefox still won't download graphics.
Are you on a limited user Android account?
Nope. Full access user.
It was working fine until a few days ago, and I had no problems downloading graphics from anywhere, even Facebook. Then all of a sudden it stopped.
I noticed that under Settings / Apps / Firefox, one of the permissions listed says "download files without notification". Tap on that to get a longer explanation, but it still doesn't matter, because with or without notifications it still isn't downloading graphics.
Please update to the latest version of Firefox. Does this still happen?
Hi Nightwolf:
I've been following this question with interest; I've exactly the same device Firefox for Android ver. 34.0.1 (tried 35 and 36), Android ver. 5.0.2 (Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet) and I've had no problem saving images.
Could you please give us the URL of an example image on the web (not Facebook) that you can't save?
Cheers!
...Roland
It's *any* graphic on the web. For example, any of the graphics at http://critterbabies.com/baby-pets-and-farm-animals/kittens/
And as far as everything else, Firefox just updated itself the other day to 36.0 - still the same problem. There's got to be a setting somewhere that is screwing things up, but I haven't been able to find it.

Bingo! that was the problem - a missing download folder. Hooked my tablet up to my Windows 7 machine and created a new folder, and it's back to business as usual. Thanks!
I'm having the same issue. I did however, just recently updated my Samsung software and that's when I noticed the problem. The image is downloading but before, the image would save in my Gallery. I'm have no issues with Chrome.
