Firefox web browser has been hijacked again, 7, 8 and 9 April 2015. Pop ups, and websites appear when viewing web pages. Bogus web sites are on search pages.

When are you going to fix the problem which has been happening for the last three days?

Hi, this isn't a Firefox issue. I'm afraid it sounds as if you have picked up some malware, so please work through Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware, which should help you to fix the problem, and please be aware that you should scan with all the programs because each one detects different malware.

Hope that helps.

FYI before I posted on Mozilla Support I contacted Trend Micro. They sent me links to generate a system infromation log file for analysis and a link to generate Hijack, a log file for malware analysis.

As Mozilla Firefox has had previous security issues and have supposed to have fixed the problem why cannot they have the another problem. How can yopu say that it isn't a Firefox issue

Hi, many thanks for your feedback. My suggestion that this isn't a Firefox issue is based on the fact that there aren't any other reports of obviously similar problems to yours - if it was widespread we would be inundated with complaints.

In your first post you categorically stated that it wasn't a Firefox issue. Now you are saying you only made a suggestion. That souds like you are trying to have two bob each way because you don't really know what the truth is.

Are you saying that Trend Micro have a problem and are not telling?

Would you like a copy of the logs taken off my computer?

I suggest you 'Google' 'Mozilla Firefox Hijacked' and see what you get. At the top of the page you will find a number of sites listed under Assist Point Ads. Log on to them and see what you get.

Scribe_uk sent you the following message: Hi, no one can be 100% certain of course, so I concede that perhaps I shouldn't have been quite so definitive, but from your description it seems very likely that malware is the problem. From your original post, I assumed that this wasn't a recent download of FF, but if it was, it is essential that you only download from mozilla.org since from other sites it can be bundled with junk, which could cause this issue. In order to move this forward and attempt to solve what's going on, could you please reply on Mozilla Support stating that you have run the programs that I linked to, and it hasn't worked. That way, other contributors will pick it up and may be able to offer further advice. We don't have any hidden agenda, and almost all contributors are volunteers just trying to help with users problems.

Scribe, Read your last post. YOU didn't link me to any programmes, TREND MICRO did.

All of my updates are automatic downloads from Mozilla.org.

Did you Google 'Mozilla Firefox Hijacked'? If so what did you find?

Hi, for your convenience this is the link (Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware) in my original reply - the program links are within the article.

OKAY, YOU TWO, KNOCK IT OFF !

Do you want to settle the problem or not?

Use the mal-ware scanners from the first post. Use ALL of them.

Some people take programs and create their own installers. While they may install the program you want, there may be no telling what else is being installed.

Fred McD and Scribe_UK before you start making uninformed comments get your facts and understanding straight.

For your information there were 3 automatic updates to my computer on the day that I started having issues. The three updates were from Firefox UK, Samsung and Samsung Kies (as I connected my mobile phone to my computer as I have previously done before with out any issues being caused). Those up dates were removed and now my computer is functioning correctly.

I did not have to or use any Mozilla Firefox mal-ware scanners as you suggested.
