Email without a password is now asking for a password I didn't set it with?

more options

I have a verizon email account that is accessed by Thunderbird exclusively. It has NEVER had a password. Today I'm trying to get my messages in Thunderbird, and it's asking me to input my password. I DON'T have a password on this email. My husband has an email account set up through Thunderbird, verizon address also. His has a password cause we handle important bills and such with it. I tried his password on mine and nothing. I have no idea what the password for mine could even be!

Any help?

All email accounts have passwords. That is how they all work.

You may have told Thunderbird to remember the password and enter it for you, but the account with your provider has a password.

You can go to the Menu Bar and select Tools-Options-Security-Passwords-Saved Passwords and see what is saved there. If your menu bar is hidden, press the alt key to make it appear.

Then go to your providers web mail site and try your username and password there. It it works, you have another issue causing the password error.

If the password does not work there you need to work with your provider to reset the password to one that works and you remember.
