I have a promethean LCD interactive panel in my classroom. I would like to be able to interact with web-based programs on my touch screen board. I need to know how to enable "touch events" so that I can drag and drop objects on the screen, while running Firefox.

Thanks,

Hi

Thank you for your question. I have done a bit of digging around and I think that I have a solution that you may want to try.

  1. In the address bar type about:config
  2. Agree the warning message and in the search bar along the top, search for dom.w3c_touch_events.enabled
  3. Double click on the entry and an Enter integer value box will pop up.
  4. Change the value to 1 and agree, exit and close back to normal browsing.

You may need to restart Firefox, but this should enable touch in Firefox for Windows. A group of us here are interested to know how this turns out and if it works okay for you. If it does not, please come back here or drop me a private message and we can possibly look into a different solution for you.
