When will Mozilla verify and allow Norton Security Toolbar to be activated?
Again, the second most important feature of Norton Internet Security/Norton Security is NON-FUNCTIONAL, the Norton Toolbar with Identity Safe/Identity Vault. Norton took more than a month to UPDATE the addon and NOW Firefox won't allow it to run or be activated. It SHOWS as ENABLED, but because Mozilla doesn't recognize it's SIGNATURE it doesn't run or function.
When??
I need my automatic logins and passwords provided by Identity Safe and not sure to TRUST having my usernames and passwords remembered within FF.
Since I know JUST ENOUGH to get myself INTO trouble but NOT ENOUGH to get myself OUT, please help fix this asap.
Thanks for all you do.

hi OldIdiot, extension don't need to be signed to be able to function in firefox yet - this is just a warning notice for your information. what really needs to be done here is a compatibility update by norton, since a component they used in their addon is now deprecated in firefox (and they were aware of that for months). please note that addon authors are the only ones able to make the necessary compatibility adjustments in an addon or submit it for signing. so please get in contact with norton's support about this issue.
Yeah, They at Norton say the same about Mozilla. Still don't solve my problem, but thanks anyhow.

The Norton Toolbar is now compatible with Firefox 41 & 42 [Limited functionality]. We have released a Firefox 41 & 42 compatibility patch for Norton Security 22.5.4.24, Norton Security with Backup 22.5.4.24, Norton Internet Security, Norton 360, Norton Antivirus 22.5.4.24 & Norton Security Suite 22.5.4.24 which is available via Live Update.
Note the fix is for Norton v22.5 product versions and not for older product versions.

This patch HAS not been verified YET with Firefox but Norton is working with Mozilla to get the patch verified.

The caveat about version compatibility leaves me and hundreds, if not thousands, of Norton clients/customers out in the cold still since many thousands of us are running NIS 22.x.x.x as viable security suite(s) and have NOT been required to toss out our current NIS and forced to replace it/them with the 25.x.x.x Norton Security. Current installation's paid for and a year left on multiple platforms/systems.
But, again, thanks.
Now the extension "Norton Identity Safe" is activated for last updated Firefox 43.0 but it does not work. Norton Toolbar doesn't appear in extensions menu. When you will make it operating For several years I was using FF I hope you do the necessary asap.
Hi Dada1355, if you installed the November 5th or later update to your Norton software, then you are in limbo when it comes to using your password "vault"; it no longer works to go back to an earlier version of Firefox.
Norton is working on integrating the vault with the new toolbar, but has not given a timeline for it. See:
As you can imagine, since this is security software, none of us is going to freelance with suggested hacks, nor will we recommend downloading old versions of Norton software from random websites. If you prefer to stick with this password manager, you can use Norton's forums to help keep the pressure on.
Symantec employee Tony_Weiss is posting updates about the Norton Identity Safe vault for their v22 products in the thread Identity Safe limited compatibility with Firefox - current status. From his 17-Mar-2016 post:
"We’re still on track for the August 2016 release. If things change, we will update this thread with the information. We are watching and working closely with Mozilla’s web extensions development plans – see Mozilla’s update here: Advantages of WebExtensions for Developers." __________ 32-bit Vista Home Premium SP2 * Firefox v45.0.1 * NIS (2014) v21.7.0.11

Hi OldIdiot:
If you are using any v22.x Norton product (e.g., the current v22.6.0.142), you should receive a working Identity Safe for your Firefox browser when it's eventually released in August 2016, regardless of whether you have Norton Internet Security (NIS), Norton Security (NS), etc. All these products use the same Norton v22 engine and the main difference between v22.x products is in their license [e.g., 3 Windows PCs for NIS vs 5 devices (PC, Mac, iOS or Android) for NS Deluxe].
Norton users with older product versions (v21.x and older) will not receive the redesigned Identity Safe for their Firefox browser in August 2016 and will have to upgrade to the latest v22.x engine if they want to continue using this Norton password manager in Firefox.

Hi Imacri, You seem well informed on progress here.
Do you know what the latest is from Norton on support of the local vault as opposed to the cloud based storage of information and how does that affect Firefox users ? Presumably Firefox users will not lose access to locally stored information and passwords. Or they will at least be able to transfer that local information to cloud storage that is then accessible by Firefox.
Do I understand it correctly that after the redesigned Identity Safe (Planned for August 2016, and for v22.xx Norton products) is released for Firefox the Identity Safe information will be directly available from Firefox.
In one of our older support articles* we did state
From your Norton product or the Identity Safe site, you can view your logins and copy/paste your usernames and passwords. You can also access your address and wallet items.
OldIdiot You mention NIS 22.x.x.x so I presume that is what you are running. Are you able to confirm that ? Am I correct in assuming that you still currently access Identity Safe information locally direct from your Norton product ?
P.S. I note one workaround is to use Firefox and open in a tab https://identitysafe.norton.com

Hi John99:
Sorry, I do some troubleshooting in the Norton forum under the same username lmacri, but I'm not a forum Guru and don't have an inside track on the redesign of the Identity Safe vault for Firefox.
Regarding your question about the local vs cloud-based vault, forum Guru Krusty13 just speculated about that subject <here> in the thread Identity Safe limited compatibility with Firefox - current status, but there has been no official word from Symantec yet on whether they plan to reinstate the option of a local vault.
One thing that might interest to you - Symantec employee athena posted a mock-up of the redesigned Identity Safe <here> on 05-Apr-2016. The information she posted in that update leads me to suspect that an online vault will be the only option.

Hi John99:
New customers who install a Norton v22.x product for the first time no longer have the option of creating a local vault per the Norton support article I want to create a local Identity Safe vault, but users who created a local vault in a previous Norton product (v19.x or older) can currently retain their local vault by either performing over-the-top upgrades or following elsewhere's instructions in the thread Retaining Your Local Vault.
Users who have managed to retain their local vault can migrate to an online vault by following the instructions in the Norton support article I want to move my local vault to online vault, and I assume that option will still be available if Symantec completely eliminates the option for a local vault in the redesigned Identity Safe. In a worst case scenario where passwords in a local vault could not be transferred automatically, users should still have the option of manually exporting passwords from their local vault as a .dat or .csv file and then importing them into the online vault after the redesigned Identity Safe is released in August 2016.

Thanks for all your comments. To realize that Norton is going along with all the "Cloud" crowd is disconcerting to say the least. The "CLOUD" will NEVER be secure, already proven by having been attacked and hacked more than once, so when Symantec Norton wipes out an in-product vault, I'm done with them and will opt for a security suite that provides more personal control to ME. To also think that Norton is taking a FULL YEAR to write code to provide a strong selling feature for their product demonstrates, to ME at least, their continuing LACK of care for their customers concerns and issues. I have received NOTHING but smoke and mirrors from Symantec/Norton "Tech Support" for over three years. True, I haven't, YET, THANKS to a solid anti-virus-anti-malware product in NIS, been infected from web surfing. But I bought a product promised to provide all features advertised, LOCAL Identity Safe Vault being an important part of my choosing NIS but NOT provided as advertised. To have to MASSAGE a product to utilize important functions is counter-intuitive to me. But I AM and old idiot.
So, again Thanks, but Norton and I part ways when my current subscription runs out OR they completely disable my LOCAL ID VAULT, whichever comes first.
John99,
I AM running NIS 22.x.x.x, MOST current, whichever that is, don't wanna take time to check at this moment.
To use my ID Safe Log-Ins in ANY version of Firefox, currently IT'S most current 45.0.1 version, I have to click on the arrow to the RIGHT of a Log-In entry within ID Safe's VAULT, which opens Firefox (my default browser) to that log-in page BUT DOES NOT fill the boxes in, username/id OR password, I have to TYPE IN my username and go BACK to my VAULT and CLICK the (copy-to-clipboard) ICON THEN go back to the log-in page and right click the password box and choose PASTE, then I can log in BUT I HAVE TO set FF to REMEMBER LOGINS to have future convenience of remembered log ins AND passwords. So, why bother with NIS ID Safe at all except as a local repository of all my logins, since I AM an old idiot. Good fortune,
JC, er, oldidiot (Chuckle)
