I notice you said:

the easy fixes do not work

These are the usual things we suggest. Have they made any difference?

(1) Clear your cookies for google.com and yahoo.com (2) Check that your cookie permissions are not blocking Google cookies (3) Test by loading YouTube in a private browsing window (4) Test by loading YouTube in Firefox's Safe Mode

Here are the detailed steps for those things, in case you skipped any:

Clear Cookies for Specific Sites

Let's use the Permissions Manager for this. Type or paste about:permissions in the address bar and press Enter.

Firefox should start listing a huge number of sites in the left column. In the search box above the list, type google to filter it down to Google sites. Click a site in the list then, on the right side, clear the cookies for that site. Repeat until you've flush all the Google cookies, then filter using youtube and clear those as well.

Then try visiting and logging in. Any improvement?

Check Cookie Permissions

See this article: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them

Private Window Check

If you normally use regular browsing windows, you can load YouTube in a private window using either of these:

  • right-click a link to YouTube and Open Link in New Private Window
  • open a private window first using Ctrl+Shift+p and then go to YouTube in that window

Any difference?

Firefox's Safe Mode

This is a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features of Firefox.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any difference?

One other thought: if you saved your Google password in Firefox, you can delete it and see whether that helps. You can do that on the Options page:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Security

Click the "Saved Passwords" button to access your list of saved logins and you can delete Google there.
