firefox 42.0 stopped remembering my gmail names
The gmail login page used to display all 7 of the gmail logins used on this computer. Now it doesn't remember any of them. This has *nothing* to do with passwords, I never stored gmail passwords in firefox. But it was remembering the gmail login names and I need it to resume doing so.

Were you using saved form data (auto-fill forms) to save this data?
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": "Remember search and form history"
A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie.
You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:
- Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
- Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions
- Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
- Clearing Cookies will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you want to keep.
My "Remember search and form history" was and has always been checked. I haven't tried Create a cookie 'allow' exception yet ... I never had to do this before, what happened in 42.0 that now I have to? I allow cookies by default. Thanks for your assist.
Are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the search history or otherwise may have cleared this history?
I don't think that anything has changed to the sign in page.
No I have never set Clear hist when Ff closes. I have another laptop which I haven't allowed FF (41.0.1) to upgrade to 42.0, and the gmail login screen shows all the recent usernames prior to logging in and allows me to select one.

Another observation, this time regarding facebook login: the dropdown box, which in my case contains about 7 logins, used to always place the last used, (or possibly the most frequently used), login at the top; the next one down was the next most frequent; now with this version of Friedfox it is in goddam alphabetical order. I'm used to clicking on the top one, and end up accidentally opening my dog's fb page!!! Please petition whomever made these changes, to restore it to the way it was; this is not a feature, it is a PAIN IN THE ASS... Vielen Dank.
