I try to find a way allowing me to get a new tab when introducing a new URL. Because I would like to switch between the old an the new tab in the tab bar. I cannot find the solution and so Firefox always overwrites the old tab in the tab bar. Can anybody help? Dappy

For links in pages, or for bookmarks, in addition to the right-click context menu, you can use these methods to open a link in a new tab:

  • Ctrl+click (hold down the Ctrl key and click the link)
  • middle-click (use the scroll wheel on your mouse to click the link)

If you are typing a URL in the address bar and want to open it in a new tab, you can either:

  • Hold down the Alt key and press Enter
  • Ctrl+click the "go" arrow at the end of the address bar

There are some tab-related add-ons with a stunning range of features, one of which might be to always open everything in a new tab. I haven't checked for it myself, but these are popular and might be a good place to start your research:

How are you calling the new link? Right click the link and select Open In New Tab/Window
