I have downloaded Firefox onto my iPad and want to add extensions but every time I try to do so there's a message at the top of he page saying "you need Firefox to install add-ons" even though I'm using Firefox browser (so clearly I have Firefox).

The Firefox shell browser for iOS does not support Extensions yet though maybe in future.

Extensions listed at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ are for desktop Firefox on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux.

Extensions listed at https://addons.mozilla.org/android/ are for mobile Firefox on Android.
